Help us build a brighter future, one brick at a time, by collecting LEGO for Because Bricks to distribute to Title 1 schools. The LEGO bricks collected provide valuable early STEM experiences to underserved kids. Whether you are a robotics team looking for an outreach opportunity or a student seeking community service hours, a LEGO donation drive for Because Bricks can be a fun and easy way to make a positive impact in the lives of children.
Identify who will help you organize the drive. A minimum of 1-3 people is usually sufficient.
Decide where you will collect the LEGO. Consider a location that is visible, open to the public and near parking so people can unload their LEGO easily.
Decide when to have your donation drive. Be sure to check the date with the venue and allocate enough time to market the event. We recommend at least 6 weeks from initial meeting to the donation drive itself.
When you have all the details above decided, contact us at Because Bricks early on so we can verify your plan and begin tailoring your custom marketing package.
Your custom marketing package contains digital assets and printable assets with your organization's name and event details. If you prefer, you can also make your own marketing materials. Here is what is included in the marketing package:
Printable flyer
Printable 72x36" banner
Printable 48x24" banner
8 Instagram square posts
4 Instagram reels posts
50 “I Gave” stickers
Consistently post on your social media channels, including your neighborhood or city when possible. Don’t forget locale-specific networks like NextDoor. Ask organizations you are a member of to post on your behalf, like a clubs, schools, and religious organizations.
Post flyers with local businesses and bring flyers to other outreach events your organization is participating in.
Get included on the events calendars of media outlets like local newspapers, library, and events sites.
Don’t forget your own network of friends and family.
Have a large table to provide a focal point for people to find the donation area. Bring helium balloons and/or decorate the table to attract attention.
Be sure to have some sturdy boxes to collect the LEGO in. A wagon or dolly can help transport heavy boxes.
Take pictures of the big day so you can share it on social media, notifying your followers and the public that the event is happening right now! These photos will also be useful in the next step when you thank your donors.
Quantify your success by weighing the LEGO you collected. You can also count donors, kits, or boxes if that makes a more compelling story.
Post on social media, thanking any participating businesses and the community for making your drive a success. Mention how much LEGO was collected. You can use pictures you took at the event or some of the artwork from the marketing package.
Contact us at Because Bricks and we’ll arrange delivery or pickup of the LEGO!
You will receive confirmation of your successful donation drive with a certificate and testimonial from us that you can use on social media and other publications. We will also fill out any service hours documentation you need.
